Recent NVQ Qualifiers

Congratulations to Helen Booth and Karen Breese. Helen and Karen run the Severn NVQ Assessment Centre which is part of Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin PCT. They decided they wanted to complete their own level 4 Management NVQs through an external provider and we were flattered when they approached us for help. They targeted themselves to complete one unit per month and successfully achieved this, despite having very busy working lives and FOUR CHILDREN EACH! We took great pleasure in presenting them with their certificates, and although it was a little while ago now, we like their story and the picture, so we're keeping them in the news!

Interesting Info

bullet

This is hot off the press - for Leadership & Management NVQ learners, there will soon be an additional nine, optional units to choose from.  These include a green unit, 'Manage the environmental impact of your work' and another good one, 'Take effective decisions' - which might prove a little radical for some! Click for more information.

Standardisation of NVQ assessment decisions is now very much a requirement for all Assessment Centres.  Sometimes this isn't easy to achieve for small Centres, or for Centres running schemes with low candidate numbers.  Click for help.

bullet

It's official!  MAPS Group continues to receive a clean bill of health from external evaluations.

bullet

The revised QCA Code of Practice for NVQ Assessment Centres has at last been published, but it's a bit of a damp squib - not very different to the last one.

What's New

bullet

The list of NVQs we are able to offer has been updated and now includes ITQ and Contact Centre qualifications (including the unit which relates to incident management).

bullet

Thank goodness!!  The need for independent assessment of the new management NVQs is no longer a requirement.  Apparently current thinking is that if the Internal Verification  process is sufficiently robust, independent assessment becomes unnecessary.  (Which is what we all said in the first place!)

bullet

We are now approved by ELCAS as a training provider to military service personnel.
